What is the Capacity of our Brain?

"We use only 10 % of our brain capacity" Is this information true ? (...)

I think it is true that in early developement half of the brain can take over the functions of the whole brain, when one side is lost, or that even a thin layer of brain when maybe 80% of the brain lost can function as a normal brain! Perhaps, evolutionarily wise, humans have all of this extra computing power for redundancy in case of injury. However, the CNS is less able to repair itself than the PNS is, so one might wonder how a primitive human could survive such a devastating loss without modern medicine or neurosurgery.

I used to think that the "10%" often quoted in the press mean that at any one time, the human brain only uses 10%, but that it uses different parts at different times. Maybe this was calculated from radiology type scans of the human brain.
