Sleep Deprivation

Back to the fisrt page of this discussion

I'm looking for information to convince my students to sleep. They need scientific proof that sleep will help them in their studies. Many of my high school students only get 4 hours of irregular sleep a day because they stay up at night to study. Could you help me? I am teaching in the rural mountainside of Korea where we don't >have access to library and books -- just the Internet.

Please check out the following web site:

I think you will find this article (concerning sleep deprivation) very helpful: "What All Undergraduates Should Know About How Their Sleeping Lives Affect Their Waking Lives" by William Dement, M.D., Ph.D.

As you may know, Dr. Dement established the first sleep lab at Stanford, and is considered one of the nation's top researchers and experts in the area of sleep medicine.
